In the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election the state split its 5 electoral votes, giving 4 for McCain and 1 to Obama, for Nebraska is one of only two states (Maine) that do not use the winner-take-all method. Technically, Nebraska is a red state, but its 2nd Congressional District is considered a swing-vote. Nebraska didn't do better the next time but enough people in other states voted for Obama so he got a second term.
