A physical map of Argentina.

Argentina is a country in Latin America, the part of the country nearer to the Equator is subtropical but the southernmost part is sub Antartic. The country is mountainous by the Andes, the Pampas forms a plain and there is a long coastline. There are deserts, rivers and waterfalls.

Argentina suffered during the economic downturns and although the nation is rich in natural resources 30% of the people became poor. 11% suffer extreme poverty and cannot get enough to eat. [1]

There is still resentment over the military dictatorship that existed for some years during the 1970s and 1980s as tens of thousands of people disappeared and the remains of many victims have never been found so relatives can only guess what might have happened. Sadly the resentment isn't universal.

The current Pope Francis is Argentinian.
